CITY SCULPTURE: DETROIT LEGACY
City Sculpture Detroit is a 501(c)3 nonprofit rooted in the belief that art transforms — materials, spaces, and people. Through the found-object and welded metal sculptures of Detroit artist Robert Sestok, we create hands-on educational experiences that inspire the next generation of creators.

GALLERY
Robert Sestok has spent over five decades creating large-scale welded steel sculptures, many crafted from recycled and found materials rooted in Detroit's industrial landscape. His work is held in public and private collections across the country, including the Detroit Institute of Arts, and can be experienced in person at City Sculpture Park in Midtown Detroit.
Sestok works in large-format acrylic painting, creating bold, layered compositions that move between abstraction and representation. His paintings have been exhibited at major institutions including the Detroit Institute of Arts, Cranbrook Museum of Art, and Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York City.
Sestok has painted large-scale murals across Detroit since the early 1970s, with works commissioned for spaces ranging from historic warehouses to Third Man Records. His murals are rooted in abstraction and reflect the deconstructivist approach that has defined his artistic practice across all mediums.
Sestok's drawings and prints span portraiture, geometric abstraction, and mixed-media experimentation, offering a more intimate look at his creative process. These works on paper have been featured in exhibitions across Detroit and serve as a foundation for his broader sculptural and painterly practice.
